Generally, ‘the process of becoming a butterfly’ is not an engaging/attractive stage to people.

However I want to change their perception/stereotype/bias.

There is a way to convert this, by reinterpreting my idea using Oldenburg’s interpretation .

The answer lies within ‘size’. When we perceive/see/encounter exaggerated things, we will normally/eventually get interested in it.

In this point I contemplated on how I can give meanings to the worthless existence of ‘the process of becoming a butterfly’.

Thus/Consequently/In consequence, I designed exaggerated garment. Also I attached some of photos that I took.

<developing from a larva into an imago>

I divided human life into three parts: larva; larva in the pupal stage; and imago(butterfly).

People are only interested in butterfly which is a symbol of success, while they look down on/neglect the the growing/evolution stage (of the butterfly) from larva to pupa.

We regard this term as the most depressed time of its life because nobody cares about them. Regardless of its will, most of people ignore the hard time/stressful process

.—————In this page, I drew a lot of larvas and pupas which want to become butterflies . It seems like huge building consisting of them. I put photos various people’s eyes to explain people’s perception. Using OHP films was a very successful try when making some illusions (process of becoming butterfly.)

This pages displays one’s life story.

It does not specifically explain someone, but anyone can become the main character of this page.

I wanted to express all emotions I’ve used to feel, so I attached various photos. Some of the photos shows lovely and bright colours compared to others.

In this part, I tried to make the audiences reflect on their memorable moments or one of their happiest moments

Additionally, I drew old people using dry ingredients(e.g. pencil, pens and acrylic pen) in contrast of the photos of young lovers

Finally, I put a photo of tied feet in chains in the middle of the paper. It expresses the core meaning of the project as it is the metaphor of the most stressful time in life(=larva).

materials- pearls,  I use a lot of materials that is ohp films, pearls and acrylic paints etc. Especially ohp films can show what I want. (examples: In this project I have to explain process from lava to butterfly. Because it is the core in this work so when I wanted to illustrate lavas’ growth, I did attached ohp films layering. Using trait of see- through is best way to work. Although people focused on the successful future(=butterfly), I wanted to concentrate on trying hard process( from lava to 번데기.) 사람들은 보통 낮비(즉 성공)된 나중의 미래에만초점을 맞추는데 나는 이번에 목표, 성공을 위해 노력해온 그간 과정(=즉 번데기. 애벌레)의 모습에 초점을 맞

2. 꼼데가르송 - Comdes is the best contemporary fashion brand I thought. I thought it motivated by my work. This brand is a unique position in fashion. When I searched both Oldenburg and some of fashion brands, I thought Comdes is the best that is related my work. Recent collection showed layer upon layer garments. This part is used my garments that expressed suffered from lava to pupa. Also exaggerated silhouette is their trait as well. That point makes me getting to interested.

When I worked this project, Oldenburg who is mordern artists inspired me a lot. Especially one of his works is just a thing which is not meaningful. However nonetheless if he made things exaggerated, they would mean a lot themselves to audience. I thought that this outcome is quite simple but give a lot effective because size is one of important part when people interested something.

That’s why I decided my garment size. Over size attracted a large crowded. I thought it would be easier to stamp my interpretation on public. .

In the Foundation course, one of the lessons I’ve learned from the professors was freedom of expression, breaking free from stereotypes, and thinking creatively.

Basically, I drew a lot of drawings. Then, I picked some of those that I liked, and then zoomed in to emphasize them. Consequently, I was glad to get finalized works from those parts. This part was an important factor for keeping me interested in, and was also an important inspiration for developing my work. The most memorable part of the class was using various fabrics to make clothes that focus on silhouette. We were to develop our drawings, and to make patterns according to the drawings.

Sometimes, when you make irregular and different kinds of clothes, unexpected works come out. At those times, I feel astounded, and think harder to make the outfit look much more attractive. Unexpected creative work was the worthiest part of the Foundation course. This was the inspiration that led me to Fashion & Textile.

KakaoTalk_20180418_055244458.jpgI took a casual photo shoot with my friend who's studying at central saint martins. I chose her house as place also I did modeling by myself. I wanted more calm and peaceful feeling.

I did some experimental shoot with intense flash in dark sight. I didn't think it would fit in my mind that much because it didn't go well with background behind. So I set those colours of light to orange toned colour. We finally got some outcomes we want.

07.04.18

KakaoTalk_20180418_055232448.jpgI have been trying to focus on choosing fabric during project. I chose fabric I've never used before properly which I blend leather and lace. I was about to make my garment with using leather as main material but it was way to thick to use. But also I really couldn't be asked to work on it because it was a bit thinner than I expect.

04.04.18

I was putting most attention on combination between my sketch book and main colour of my garments. Even entire colour tone of my sketch book is kind of dark, we can find some point colours have higher saturation than others. I got some colours I would use for main colour from that part. It actually made it to have a bit of common colours with previous project. So I might try to not to be like this anymore.

*Petr pavlensky

In this exhibition, there are lots of Russian artists . It is reflection of phrase 'lots of protests made art'. Russian government deprived liberty of civil. It's reason why Petr pavlensky did fire to FBS building and then he was arrested.

When I watched his work, i felt creepy because lots of terrible situations are happened.

I argued this project that is too cruel to watch with my friend and he said it is just one kind of his expression way to show his performance. Therefore I cannot agree this form. Because his performance can become a big accident compared others works. I know he is a frequent artists but from this point, art have to revise their boundary for others safety.

28.03.18

I looked for the artist.

I saw the pictures of Matisse and it was very impressive. Especially, the red color which appears frequently in his paintings seems to fit very well with this color project. Matisse's paintings are beautiful and charming. Another artistic music that expresses the human world in pure colors and the feeling of the fundamental art of dance is wonderful.

I have to think about how to connect Matisse's work with my work.

26.03.18

What I felt after finishing the project was to focus on the process a bit more.

I have always paid more attention to the fabric beads and materials than the process of developing because I have focused on the results.

But I felt that I should concentrate on finding the material in the first place.

24.03.18

I tried to make sillhouette about Harrods project that is going to library and galleries twice in a week. It helps me to develop original idea. And then I did more observational drawing in sketchbooks, it helped me to get drawing skills also using drawing to investigate my research, not just decorate.

A Green Man is a sculpture or other representation of a face surrounded by or made from leaves. Branches or vines may sprout from the mouth, nostrils, or other parts of the face and these shoots may bear flowers or fruit. Commonly used as a decorative architectural ornament, Green Men are frequently found in carvings on both secular and ecclesiastical buildings. "The Green Man" is also a popular name for English public houses and various interpretations of the name appear on inn signs, which sometimes show a full figure rather than just the head.

18.03.18

I was trying to do my project with ideas mainly about Green man. Also I would use green as main colour but it could be way to typical idea so I changed my mind. I decided to set that point on woods that green man protects not on green man itself. That brought me to do some research about creatures live in woods and people who destroy woods.

16.03.18

I focused on common thing between green man and Harrods guards. It is that they guard something. So I used lots of stripes patterns and tapes. In my opinion it can gives them impact to protect something. Also I chose main green color. I think, It is quite nice match.

14.03.18

I went to the art museum once more, to work on a research. Going to the same art museum many times made me closely look at each piece of works.

I used to watch the mood of works, but now I'm trying to think more about the writers' intention. Also, I wasn't really interested in photos before, but nowadays I think it's wonderful to watch the world spread from the tiny little angles. After I went to the art museum, I started to do a research about photos. I started to be interested in the famous professional photographer, Philippe Halsman. I liked his world view and his unique personality rather than his works.

Nowadays people want to take pretty photos. They want the best angle with their prettiest face. But Halsman wants to take photos of the real person as he or she is. If you look at the photo book, 'Jumping', people are jumping as they are. I think it's a brilliant way to reveal people's true colors. Next time, I want to internally focus on him as a motif.

10.03.18

I inspires artists who is Liu Bolin Chinese artists. Almost all of his works look like passing through. Becasue he wanna fly in the face of public, He talked about inequality of human. I think it is related to noble woman cause before they are just pretty doll of men.

Finally I decided shape what I make. I focused on upper body.

07.03.18

KakaoTalk_20180418_055235356.jpgI used to draw doodle on yellow paper because it gave deep mood than before.

I drew from a pupa to butterflies to show my lucky life when I watched yellow butterfly in that year. The hard point is that how I deveolp using idea.

05.03.18

I got some inspirations from textures, colours and patterns of imago butterfly to describe details of garments in obvious way. On the other hand, I decided to bring concept of metamorphosis especially how much period of time butterfly need to be complete imago from larva. It would be nicer to use to build main figure and silhouette which is the most important part of making garment. Additionally, I want those figure and silhouette to represent exact processes (stage) of metamorphosis.

It could be way too obvious to use those separated levels of metamorphosis. However I believe in that obvious would be helpful to deliver what I want to say to people.

03.03.18

I decided to choose myself as a topic for this project.

I’ve been thinking about what could represent myself properly.

Especially, “Butterfly” could represent exact situation I got involved. I’ve been struggled with how much time and effort I need to spend to approach to my final purpose. As same as like the process how butterfly having a number of evaluation to be a adult butterfly.

01.03.18

Today my assignment is that making personal project proposal.

It is first time so it's way too hard to do it. At first, I contemplated on deciding the subject which is related to me.

This is the reason why I chose the subject is 'I'.

I've no idea what should I do.

After that I picked the butterfly that gave me inspiration. Because when I thought about my childhood, I always believed East Asian myth that is when we saw yellow butterfly it means someone have given a lucky year.

Although I saw yellow things twice since I've known the myth.
